Frequently Asked Questions

How can my child attend your school?

Children are placed at Southwest Academy in 2 ways.

*The first is through the home or attending school with the child’s IEP team. The school determines that they are unable to support the student at their campus and a recommendation is made for the student to receive their services in a Level D placement.

The parent, student and administrator will review the IEP and additional information and determine if our school is the best option for supporting the students needs.

*The second way a student may enroll at Southwest Academy is through parental placement with the use of an Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA).

Do you accept the AZ Empowerment Scholarship (ESA)?

Yes! Students may be parentally placed with an ESA scholarship. Please contact the school office to discuss the options for students with an identified disability and ESA placements, If you would like more information regarding Arizona’s Empowerment Scholarship (ESA) program, please visit  https://www.azed.gov/esa.

Does your school suspend or expel students?

As a special education private day program, we KNOW that all students need to be in school everyday. We do not suspend or expel our students for any reason and we Never Give Up on our students.

Do you provide transportation?

We offer transportation services through the Home School District and our own private transportation services. Please contact the school administrator for more information.

Does my child have to have an IEP to attend your school?

All of our students must have an identified disability to attend our schools.

Do you provide counseling services and other related services?

Every school in our organization provides counseling services to students that require counseling services. In addition we offer Speech and Occupational therapy as identified by the child’s IEP.
